NAET is a natural, painless and drug free treatment that may relieve allergies, sensitivities and intolerances. It is safe to use at any age, from newborns to the elderly.
NAET was discovered in 1983 by Dr Devi Nambudripad, and has been used successfully ever since.
NAET uses muscle response testing (MRT) which indicates the kinetic imbalance in the body that may be caused by allergens. The actual treatment consists of gently stimulating pressure points along the spine while the patient is holding onto a sample of the allergen. After the treatment, a strong MRT indicates that the sensitivity may have been removed, and specific acupressure points are then stimulated.
When body contact is made with an allergen, it causes a blockage in the body’s energy pathways and this can disrupt the normal flow of energy through the body’s energy circuits. This energy blockage causes interference between the brain and organs via the nervous system.
One of the nervous system’s functions, is the immune response. The brain is the master control centre of the body and constantly receives information from sensory nerve fibres about conditions both inside and outside the body. It rapidly analyses this information and sends out messages that control the appropriate body functions and actions. It also stores all information from past experiences (including allergies), and is the source of all emotions.
When the body’s nerve endings (from nasal mucosa, lung, mouth, alimentary tract and skin etc) gather information about an antigen/allergy, it transmits information via nerve fibres to the brain. The brain in turn alerts the body by relaying the information about the allergy to the rest of the body via electrical signals. The body’s immune system is also alerted to call upon its defences and it stimulates cells to produces antibodies (IgE and IgG etc) as needed to handle the situation.
While stimulating the specific nerve fibres and receptors alongside the spine, the person is in contact with a sample of the allergen and the NAET treatment is capable of changing the characteristics of the previous stimulus into a new one with a different signal. The altered stimuli may carry new information about the antigen via the nervous system to the appropriate areas of the brain, and in return the brain may relay its response about this new information to every cell in the body.
The previously activated immune response may be deactivated or replaced by a newly relayed signal, thus effectively rendering the previously perceived harmful substance into one that the nervous system may now recognises as being harmless! NAET involves the whole brain and its network of nerves as it reprograms the brain by potentially erasing the previous harmful memory regarding the allergen, and imprinting a new, positive memory in its place.
Allergens are addressed one at a time and sometimes in a specific sequence. Up to two allergens per day may be treated, and in most cases one session is all that is required per allergen family. However individuals who are highly sensitive, may sometimes require additional treatments.
