What is an allergy?

An allergic reaction is simply an improper response of the immune system to an otherwise harmless substance such as foods, medications, pollens, flowers, grasses, dust and more.
The body reacts by releasing powerful chemicals that cause classic allergic symptoms such as watery and/or itchy eyes or nose, skin rashes, asthma, fatigue, headaches, insomnia, irritable bowel, mental symptoms such as anger or depression, and various pains that can present in almost any part of the body.
Many health problems can be attributed to undiagnosed allergic reactions or the lowering of the immune system due to multiple allergic reactions that allow disease to attack the weakened body.
Currently conventional medicine uses several methods for diagnosing allergies, including the scratch and RAST test. The standard treatment is drug therapy using either antihistamines or steroids to control the symptoms. A desensitisation program by injecting small amounts of the allergen on a regular basis to build immunity to the substance may also be used.
Unfortunately, these methods may not correct the underlying problem and often there can be undesirable side effects. NAET is truly a break through for allergy sufferers. It potentially treats at the source of the problem – an inappropriate immune response.
What causes allergies?

Energy blockages and imbalances caused in the body’s energy circulation by various factors:
- Heredity
- Toxins
- Lowering the immune system due to extra stress put on the person’s body, causing the body to become weak and over-reactive towards other energies. The commonly seen stressors are physical injuries, accidents, surgery, illness, emotional stressors.
- Deficiency and malabsorption disorders producing abnormal enzymes leading to abnormal functions in the body (poor digestion, hormonal disorders, abnormal thyroid functions etc).
- Overexposure to toxic substances (chemicals, insulation material, pesticides, allergic foods and drinks, food additives, food colourings, extreme cold, heat etc) over a period of time.
- Emotional factors and traumas creating sudden stops in the energy functions leading to chronic blockages in the energy circulation
- Toxins caused from physical exertion like vigorous exercise, running etc.
